THE CALLING

As early as 1993 Priests of the Diocese of Columbus saw an inherent need for a post abortion healing ministry. A discernment meeting was formed and subsequently Judy Schlueter was called on to formulate, construct and write a program for women suffering the aftermath from a Post Abortion situation. Judy is a R.N. with a specialty in Adolescent Pregnancy and has a M.A. in Pastoral Counseling,
Through the inspiration and guidance of The Holy Spirit, Bishops, Priests of the Diocese of Columbus and from the Pontifical College Josephinum (PCJ) Judy created and drafted
“An Experience of Hope – A Guidebook to Healing” and fashioned out of that same mentality a structured ministry (Bethesda Healing Ministry – BHM) for women seeking refuge from their sorrow. Judy has been recognized nationally as the Foundress of the ministry and all the supporting documents and works that have provided a sustainable structure for many years.
Recently Judy felt called to broaden the scope of God’s all Merciful and Healing Love for all HIS children especially those feeling lost and abandoned. Listening to GOD’s call and knowing that her season of time for BHM was at an end she made the decision to leave it to the care of others.
Judy went back to the original fundamentals and with a simpler but broader brush formed An Experience of Hope Ministry. The calling has evolved over the years from a ministry to serve the needs of a single focused group of hurting women to a more broad-based approach. Both programs continue to serve under the fundamentals of the foundress’s God inspired formation.
An Experience of Hope is facilitated by a team of Marion women who live, serve, and deeply love Mary and Her Son, Jesus the Good Shepherd.
Those drawn to this humble, gentle, and accepting ministry will come to appreciate the continuation of love and care recognized through “An Experience of Hope.”
This ministry is not only for those in sorrow from the aftermath of abortion but also beloved daughters who struggle because of the abortion of dreams, hopes. safety, trust and love. They come to us from prison, their cars, from the streets, from penthouses and from the suburbs. They carry with them abuse, loneliness and rejection and as all sorrowing women they unite in their poverty of spirit.
